Olympic Distance Triathlon Kappelle-op-den-Bos

Racing on the national day! What else to do?

21 July, the national day, a holiday of good fun! 3rd Victory in 18 days!

It's a classic one on the racing calendar and I had never did this race before in Kappelle-op-den-Bos. Normally it would have been an olympic distance non drafting triathlon, but algae in the water decided otherwise. Water quality was not ok, so the swim part got replaced by 5k run. The new race format was a 5k - 40k - 10k. No swimming and even more tiresome for the legs.

I had a good feeling all along and went solo to the victory. Plan was to push hard on the bike and compare this to the stronger cyclists in the race. Turned out my bike performance was quite ok! Being a fairly small and skinny athlete, I don't push the big watts but I can do solid watts/kg and being aerodynamic also helps a lot!

This was the last race now of a series of many. Now for some rest and base training again to tackle the 2nd part of the season end of August!
