ITU World Cup Karlovy Vary (CZE)

First OD race in a long time

Sunday 3th of september I participated in the World Cup of karovy Vary. It was to be the first race at world level as well as the first olympic distance for me in a long time.

The swimstart was rough and because the first buoy already came at 200m after the start, there was a lot of congestion and some fighting going on. But I managed to get through and finish a decent swim.
On the first 20km on the bike, me and a few others did some good teamwork as we managed to reach a large bike pack in front of us. The bike course was very demanding with barely any flat sections. This suited me very well, being and I felt strong.
The run went not as good as hoped for. Firstly, the though bike course had wrecked my legs and secondly, with only a little over 2 months of running, I lacked the run mileage to perform well on a 10km. I still managed to secure a 21st place.

It was a good final rehearsel for the World Champs U23 in Rotterdam coming up in a week!
Now time for some more high intensity training sessions and then a good taper. I want to be as fresh as possible at the Worlds in Rotterdam!
