ITU World Cup Cagliari (ITA)

Racing on the beautiful island of Sardinia

After the disappointment of Astana, I wanted to make things right in the next race. That was at least the plan if my ankle would have cooperated.. The ankle injuy kept on after Astana (even without running during the race and no run training). So again for this race, the World Cup race in Cagliari  (02/06), I was quite unsure. All this uncertainty was mentally difficult to cope with. So I went in this race with many doubts.

That the mental part plays an important role in performing on a high level, was perfectly demonstrated. I didn’t swim according to my level, and then again the race was pretty much lost. I was able to run, altough with some tenderness in the ankle, but without aggrevating it too much afterwards.

So another bad result (40th) as things just aren’t working out well for me. Hoping this injury will improve and that I finally start making something of the season!
