Sunday the 8th of october I raced the final of the european series. This took place in the spanish city of Melilla, on the African continent.
After an ok swim, although some confusion with some false starters etc., I got in the 2nd group on the bike. Together with fellow Belgian Jelle Geens, I put in a lot of effort in trying to catch the front pack. We came closer, up to 20 seconds, but didn’t succeed due to the lack of cooperation in our group. A bit frustrated, we came of the bike about 20 seconds of the front pack. After a solid run, although I was destroyed because of the bike leg, I was able to catch some guys of the front pack and finish the race in 8th position.
I’m pleased with this result! Also happy to finally see my run getting better on a 10km as well.
For some this was the closing to a long season, but not for me! Now up for 2 weeks of solid training to conclude the season in Asia with 2 world cups.
